1. Talk before, during, and after reading
Write the story title and a few words, or let your child draw instead of answering aloud.

Before: What does your child wonder about the cover?
During: What does your child notice or want to pause and look at?
After: What did a character choose, and would your child choose the same or something else?

2. Read, play, make
Choose a short activity inspired by the story. Use what you already have and let your child opt in.

Play: Act out one sound, movement, or conversation from the story.
Make: Draw a scene map, arrange three objects, or invent a new ending on paper.
Afterward: What did your child notice or change their mind about?
