The Sloth and Story Night

Every full moon, the forest animals gathered beneath the great banyan tree to hear Grandma Owl tell stories. The young sloth loved stories more than anyone, but because he moved so slowly, he always arrived later than everyone else and missed half of every tale.

His friends teased him gently for always being late. Feeling embarrassed, the sloth tried the next night to rush as fast as he possibly could — but he stumbled over a branch and wore himself out, arriving even later than before.

Grandma Owl noticed the sloth's sad face and flew over to comfort him. "You don't have to be fast like everyone else," she said. "Just start your journey early, the moment the sun begins to set — you don't have to wait for the moon to rise first."

On the next full moon night, the young sloth began climbing down from his tree the very moment the sun started to dip below the horizon. He moved slowly, at his own comfortable pace, with no need to rush at all.

By the time the full moon rose above the banyan tree, the young sloth arrived right on time for the very first time. His friends cheered and clapped with delight. He smiled with pride, having learned that planning ahead at his own pace could get him there right on time too.
