Lada and the Blue Postbox

Lada's friend Khim had to recover at home for several days. Lada wanted to tell her that the flame tree had begun to bloom, but Khim's phone was being repaired. Grandma handed Lada paper and an envelope.

Lada drew the orange tree, wrote a short message, and checked the name, house number, street, and postal code with Grandma. Then she placed a stamp neatly in the top corner.

At the blue postbox, Lada wondered which slot to use. A postal worker explained the collection symbol and pickup time, so Lada slipped her envelope into the correct opening.

The letter traveled from a collection bag to a sorting table and then by bicycle to Khim's home. Many hands kept the little envelope on course, even through an afternoon shower.

Two days later, a reply arrived. Inside was a drawing of Khim smiling at her window and an orange paper flower. Lada saved it, then began her next letter at once.
