The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

A wolf had been hungry for a long time. Peeking out at a flock of sheep grazing peacefully in a nearby field, it thought, "If I walk in like this, I'll be caught right away. I need another plan."

It found a sheepskin lying by the fence and wrapped itself in it from head to tail. Then it crept slowly and carefully into the flock, swaying to blend in like one of the sheep.

The other sheep didn't notice a thing, but the sheepdog watching over the flock from a distance felt something was strange — this new sheep walked clumsily and smelled nothing like the rest.

The sheepdog crept closer for a better look and spotted dark gray legs and sharp eyes peeking out from beneath the wooly disguise. It barked loudly at once to warn the whole flock.

Startled, the wolf shook off the sheepskin and dashed out of the field as fast as it could. Every sheep was safe, and from that day on, the sheepdog watched over the flock more closely than ever.

Pretending to be someone you're not in order to trick others never works forever — only honesty lets us truly trust one another.
