Parents' guide
Children who enjoy animals and rescue stories. It shows that someone small can help while opening a conversation about keeping oneself safe.
The ant nearly drowns, and a hunter intends to harm the dove. The ant bites the hunter. Children sensitive to animal danger may want to know that both animals are safe at the end.
Materials: shallow bowl, a little water, leaves or paper, large non-swallowable toy
Separate the ant's action from real life. A child should not confront an armed person; move away and alert a trusted adult or emergency service.
Do not conclude that every favor creates a debt. Distinguish gratitude, freely chosen help, and pressure to repay someone.
