The Little Bear's Winter Sleep
⏱ 4–6 min
A little mole didn't like rain at all. Every time it began to rain, he would rush down into his underground burrow and seal the entrance tightly shut.
One day, his friend the green frog knocked on the mole's burrow door. "Come play in the rain with me, it's fun!" she said. But the mole shook his head, afraid of getting wet and cold.
The frog wouldn't give up. She asked the mole to just peek his head out and look. Hesitantly, the mole poked his head out a little, and saw raindrops sparkling on the leaves in the sunlight peeking through the clouds.
Curious now, the mole slowly stepped outside to jump over puddles with the frog. He discovered that the sound of rain on the leaves was lovely, and the rainbow that appeared in the sky afterward was beautiful too.
From that day on, the mole was never afraid of the rain again. He learned that opening his heart to something he once feared could lead him to a whole new kind of happiness.
Opening our hearts to something new that we once feared or disliked can lead us to a happiness and a new perspective we never knew existed.
A little mole never wants to leave his burrow when it rains, until a friend invites him out to play in the rain and he discovers it can be fun after all.
